We at the Titanic Lifeboat Academy are all very grateful for the support we received from you in response to our Fall fundraiser:
We met our goal and a bit more! The old Lifeboat will remain afloat for another year, bringing you the best of the alternative press worldwide on fostering your resilience and self-reliance (both personal and community) or "sovereignty", on our natural and geo-political-economic environments, and on the techno-socio milieu of our times. We will refrain for asking you for donations again until our annual fundraiser next Fall.
Meanwhile, please continue supporting the worldwide alternative press during this year. It's extremely important. Besides the scores of government websites that publish news otherwise unavailable in the West (English translation nearly always available), there are hundreds, if not thousands of independent journalists bringing you analyses of current topics as well as actual on-site reporting, often at risk of their livelihoods and even their lives. How do you know who's telling the truth? Suggestions below. Credible authors who back up their information with other credible sources and publish at least some of it freely may ask for contributions, tax-deductible donations, or subscriptions. We encourage you to support the alternative press. Our Western "free press" is a pre-scripted echo chamber and is no longer free in any sense.
Verifying Alternative Sources

First, read. Then, read more. Ask "Cui bono?" Follow their links; are their sources reliable? No links on any of their articles? Why not? In the West, there are also many who make it easy to see that there's an agenda besides getting information out, one which may not include our well being: They put up paywalls, taking "Profits before people" to new heights. Look for writers and sites with Creative Commons licenses.

Open Access is another sign that the authors are focused on getting accurate information out, usually in the form of peer-reviewed science journal papers. 
Open Source Initiative is yet another, one which invites other creators to help build a project, often software, often AI. For more information on how these projects got started see our birthday tribute to Aaron Swartz.
Many authors will simply ask you to share the information. Many will offer their work on Substack or Medium (both a variety of topics) or The Cradle (news) where you may read some of their work for free or you may subscribe at a fee of your choosing and receive access to more of their work. Again, credible authors who back up their information with other credible sources and publish at least some of it freely may ask for contributions, tax-deductible donations, or subscriptions, and again, we encourage you to support them. Again the "truth" will no longer "set you free". We either support the alternative press with money or pay the MSM with our freedom.
