"Shining a light on black operations"
"An extraordinary work by a gifted filmmaker, 'Counter-Intelligence' shines sunlight into the darkest crevices of empire run amok. The film vividly exposes a monstrous and unconstitutional 'deep state' in which multiple competing chains of command -- all but one illegal -- hijack government capabilities and taxpayer funds to commit crimes against humanity in our name. Anyone who cares about democracy, good government, and the future will want to watch all five segments of this remarkable film."
- Robert David STEELE Vivas: Former CIA Officer, USMC
This 5-part documentary from acclaimed Metanoia-Films.org is another penetrating study of forces affecting our times by Scott Nobel. "Metanoia" is "Greek – to perceive, to think," with "the result...'a change of mind.'” Sources for this series listed here.
Metanoia-Films is an invaluable, prolific nonprofit resource library of documentary films. Scott Nobel is the extraordinary filmmaker behind it. He described his purpose in making Counter-Intelligence to journalist Kim Peterson in a two-part 2014 interview with Dissident Voice (Part 1, Part 2):
My basic goal was to help people understand intelligence agencies and the techniques they use to advance policy. Most documentaries dealing with e.g. the CIA attempt to prove or disprove a particular theory about a controversial event. There is little in the way of structural analysis. In making the film I set out to explore how these agencies function in the real world. How do they keep secrets? What are some common m.o.’s? What is their ultimate purpose? In a broader sense I wanted to ask whether democracy is even possible when organizations like the CIA exist. We are currently living under a hybrid of plutocracy (from plouto, “wealth”) and cryptocracy (from krypton, “hidden”) that benefits about 1 percent of the human population. It’s no secret we’re ruled by the rich, but there is a relative lack of understanding about just how much information is kept hidden from the public. A 2004 study by Peter Galison at Harvard concluded that “the classified universe is certainly not smaller, and very probably much larger than this unclassified one.”
Many thanks to Scott Nobel for permission to include this superlative series here at TLA.
PART 1: The Company provides the basic structure, beginnings, evolution, methods used, actions taken and powers wielded. "Admit nothing. Deny everything. Make counter accusations."
PART 2: The Deep State Yes, Virginia, there is a Deep State, and it works with other groups you don't know, either, like the Mafia, gangs, paramilitaries and drug traffickers. Iran Contra, Watergate, the "War on Drugs" all investigated in this part.
PART 3: The Strategy of Tension examines psy-ops, false flags, and other tools of “National Security” wrapped in a shroud of propaganda and protected against true investigative journalism by derisions like “conspiracy theory” and by nonsense explanations repeated ad naseum. This segment explores Northwoods and Gladio as examples.
PART 4: Necrophilous This segment surveys the CIA's fascination with death and torture, violence and the dark arts, indifferently referring to thousands of human corpses as “acceptable losses” and “collateral damage”, and control - over people, over nations, over the media, to feed their lust for war. Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib included.
PART 5: Drone Nation The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is annually renewed routinely and without fanfare, and items tacked on go largely unexamed. On New Year's Eve 2011, when people were otherwise preoccupied, Obama signed an enhancment of its powers, gutting the Fifth, Sixth and Eighth Amendments in the Bill of Rights, thus covering his weekly drone assassinations, and continued torture programs, renditions and illegal detentions. As bad as things are at this point, where will they go from here and how long will Americans remain oblivious?
